Guidelines to Curb the Menace of Ragging

The guidelines to curb the menace of ragging in Homoeopathic Medical Colleges & Hospitals are as under:

  1. Every student shall furnish a Character Certificate from their previous institution indicating behavior and conduct.
  2. The admitting institution shall monitor students with negative behavioral records closely.
  3. An annual undertaking shall be signed by each student and their parents stating awareness of anti-ragging rules and punishments.
  4. The undertaking shall be provided in English and the parent’s mother tongue at the start of each academic year.
  5. Hostel residents shall also submit the same undertaking annually.
  6. The undertaking shall be attached to the college prospectus with anti-ragging guidelines.
  7. Each college shall highlight anti-ragging rules and Supreme Court directives in admission documents.
  8. Professional counselors shall assist freshers to adjust to hostel and campus life.
  9. A gap of 1–2 weeks shall be maintained between the joining of freshers and seniors.
  10. Joint sensitization and counseling programs shall be held for both freshers and seniors.
  11. Each college shall constitute an Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad with senior teachers, civil & police representatives, and media members.
  12. Private hostels outside campus must be registered with local police with recommendations from the Principal.
  13. If unsatisfied with college action, the victim or parent can escalate to local police via FIR.
  14. Complaints (oral, written, or third-party) shall be treated confidentially and acted upon within one week.
